DevOps Engineer (Java, AWS)

As a DevOps Engineer (Java, AWS), you will make an impact by designing and delivering secure, scalable software solutions that power critical cards and payments systems. You will be a valued member of a cross-functional engineering team and collaborate closely with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality payment solutions in a regulated environment. • Please note, this role is not able to offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future* In this role, you will: • Design, develop, and enhance payment processing applications using Java, JavaScript, and AWS services. • Translate business and user requirements into technical designs and robust software solutions. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and end-to-end functionality. • Apply software engineering best practices to ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. • Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high standards of software quality. • Ensure solutions comply with security standards and data protection requirements for sensitive financial information. • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. What you need to have to be considered: • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on enterprise or payment systems. • Hands-on experience developing applications with Java and JavaScript in an AWS cloud environment. • Solid understanding of the Cards & Payments domain, including industry-specific challenges and regulations. • Proven ability to design and implement scalable, secure software solutions aligned to business needs. • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex, distributed systems. • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in an Agile or hybrid delivery model. These will help you stand out: • Experience building or modernizing large-scale financial or payment platforms. • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and AWS-managed services. • Prior experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments. The annual salary for this position is between $75,000 - $123,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
