Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Job Requirements Sweetwater, the nation's number one online retailer of music instruments and pro audio gear, is seeking to add an experience, analytical, and detailed Senior Machine Learning Engineer to our growing Data and Analytics team! In this role, you will be responsible for leading the technical execution of Machine Learning and AI systems from handoff, through operation. You will design robust architectures for training and service, shape deployment, measurement, and monitoring of strategies that ensure scalability, security, and maintainability. As the Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will work to partner with stakeholders across the organization and help us to properly prioritize operational outcomes. You will have opportunity to mentor junior engineers in Machine Learning practices. Job Responsibilities • Lead end-to-end technical delivery for Machine Learning and AI systems (pipelines, service, integrations), including planning for reliability, cost, and operational ownership • Define and implement measurement and monitoring strategies (SLOs/SLIs where applicable, dashboards, alers, model/pipeline registries) aligned to data governance expectations • Partner with Data Science and product/engineering leaders to clarify requirements, acceptance criteria, and operational runbooks for production Machine Learning and AI • Drive resolution of complex production issues • Institutionalize preventative fixes and improved test coverage for Machine Learning and AI paths • Mentor associate and mid-level ML Engineers, while promoting standards for code quality, security, documentation, and change management Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, or related field • Master's Degree in related field, preferred • 4+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field • Experience focused on ML and AI Systems or MLOps • Expertise in building and operating production Machine Learning on large-scale data systems • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to manage multiple projects and push initiatives forward while staying organized • Strong software architecture skills • Deep knowledge and understanding of CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native patterns Sweetwater "Ideal" Team-Player • WOWs The Customer - Deep passion and desire for creating amazing customer & colleague experiences • Gets Things Done - Great work ethic and moves with a sense of urgency • Obsesses over the Details – committed to paying attention to the details • Drives Continuous Improvement – Always focusing on effective and efficient work and way to get better • Develops the Future – committed to pursuit of growing personally & professionally and has a focus on bringing your colleagues along with you on that journey We function best as a unified team, so relocation to our state-of-the-art campus in Fort Wayne, IN is required.
